What's New at Cliffview

Is Cliffview Resort nice?
Cliffview Resort is a family owned and operated lake resort. With 44 units, we are one of the largest lodging facilities on Lake Whitney. While we do not consider Cliffview to be a luxury resort, we do offer a very nice vacation spot with a wide variety of facilities for the family. Most of our guests are families with children who enjoy the swimming pool, fishing barn, boat docks, volleyball, basketball, shuffleboard, horseshoes, pool table, ping pong tables, and playgrounds. We have individual cabins which range in sleeping capacity from four to ten guests. None of the units are like “cabins in the woods.” We also have one-room units located in a three-unit (Building C), a four-unit (Building D), and an eleven-unit building (Building E).

How old is the resort?
About half of our cabins were built in the 1950s, but have been remodeled several times. The other units were built in the 1980s. We are continuously working to keep all of our facilities modern and up-to-date.

Do you have a view of the lake and access to the water?
Most of our cabins are located on a cliff and have a view of the horseshoe-shaped cove where our marina is located. Access to the lake is provided from all cabins via a drive down the hillside to the parking area at the boat docks. We also have a short, but steep, hiking trail down the hillside to the marina area.

Do your group facilities have a view of the lake and access to the water?
Cliffview-West, our largest group facility, is waterfront property; however, it does not have much of a view, because it is sitting back away from the edge of the cliff. It does have its own lighted, covered boat dock.

The Reunion Complex is not located on the water. It is in downtown Laguna Park near the dam on Highway 22. The guests from the Reunion Complex use the boat docks and access to the lake at our main location, which is a short drive of about six blocks.

Is there swimming in the lake?
Although we have a large peninsula at the lake level, we do not have a beach. We are located in a deepwater harbor area. The only shallow water that we have is at our launching ramp. Swimming at your own risk is allowed at the dock area, but there is no roped-off swimming area. The nearest beach with a swimming area is across the dam at Lofers Bend Park, about a mile from Cliffview Resort.

Is your swimming pool heated?
The pool at our main location is heated during March and April, weather permitting.

Unheated pools are located at Cliffview-West and the Reunion Complex. Each of the pools is for the exclusive use of the group staying at that facility.

Do you have a place to park my boat?
We have a concrete launching ramp, which is used by all of our customers. We also have a large, lighted, covered boat dock and a large, open boat dock. Both docks have electrical outlets. There is a daily boat fee.

Do you have RV spaces?
We do not have facilities for RVs. The nearest park with full hook-ups is Lofers Bend Park, which is about 1 mile across the dam from Cliffview Resort.

Do you have fishing available?
We have a small fishing house, a large covered boat dock, and a large open boat dock. Our guests may fish from all of these, as well as the shoreline.

Do you sell bait and fishing licenses?
We sell bait and tackle at our office. Minnows are available 24 hours on the honor system. We sell fishing licenses during business hours.

Are groceries available nearby?
In our office we have a gift shop. We sell a modest selection of groceries and snacks. We also offer swim toys, swimsuits, shoes, cover-ups, T-shirts, jewelry, hats, used books, and gifts. The nearest large grocery stores are located on Highway 22 in Whitney, about 8 miles from the resort.

Are the kitchens furnished?
All of our cabins have kitchens and are furnished with dinnerware, cookware, and coffee makers. Units #25-31 (without kitchens) have a microwave, a small refrigerator, and a coffee maker, but no dinnerware or cookware.

Do the cabins have outdoor grills?
Each of the rooms and cabins has at least one charcoal grill. Our larger facilities have more.

Will we have daily maid service?
We do not have daily maid service. Our maids will come to the rooms most days to change out your towels, and you are also welcome to bring your dirty towels and linens to the office for exchange as needed.

Do the cabins have cable TV?
We are located in a rural area where cable TV is not available. Our TVs get good reception of the network and local channels in the Dallas/Ft. Worth market. In addition to color TVs, all of our units have DVD players. We keep a small lending library of DVDs in our office for our guests’ use.

Are there phones in the rooms?
We do not have phones in the rooms. The service for cell phones is improving, but is still not 100% reliable.

Is Internet access available?
All three of our campuses are WiFi hotspots. If your laptop is wireless Internet ready, you may log on to our Internet service. Or you may use our laptop in the office to check your email.

Do you have a restaurant?
No, but within 3 miles of us there are about 4 restaurants. All of the local restaurants are individually owned and operated, and offer a variety of menus.

Do you have a golf course?
We do not have a golf course, but there are two courses on the east shore of the lake: White Bluff (254-694-4000) and Lake Whitney Country Club (254-694-2313). Bosque Valley Golf Club (254-435-2692), a pretty 9-hole course, is located about 20 miles from the resort.

Are you open year-round?
We are open year-round. We are only closed for the weeks during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Although we are not as busy in the off-season, we still recommend that you have reservations, because we are often in town gathering supplies, or we are out in the cabins taking care of the annual maintenance projects.

Do you accept pets?
While we do not encourage our guests to bring pets, we do allow them. There is a daily pet fee. Pets should be leashed while on the grounds. We do not allow the pets to be left alone in the rooms.

What time may we arrive?
Our check-in time is 4:30 p.m. You may call us on the day of your arrival to see if a 1:00 p.m. check-in is available. Usually we can accommodate an early check-in only if the room is unoccupied the night before your arrival. There is an early check-in fee for arrival before 1:00 p.m.

Our check-out time is 2:00 p.m. Arrangements for a late check-out must be made before 2:00 p.m. of your last day and are subject to availability. There is a fee for late check-out.

Do you have non-smoking rooms?
All of our rooms are non-smoking. Sand buckets are provided for outdoor smoking.
